Split pots occur more infrequently in high only games like Texas Hold’em. In these games, the low is worthless and is not entitled to any of the pot. In order for a split pot to occur in a Hold’em game, two or more players must make identical high hands. A tie goes to the runner in baseball, but a tie in poker results in a split of the pot. Just what constitutes a tie can be confusing. Before you join a Sit-n-Go or play live poker you should brush up on what constitutes a tie, so let’s look at some examples. *In this case, split pot poker allows more than one winner, which means that the chips would be divided among the different winners. There are different ways in which a Texas Holdem game would allow splitting a pot. Think of a case in which one of the players in a No-limit Texas Holdem game incorporates an ace-high straight.
*A split pot poker variant is where the two halves of the pot are awarded based on different hand rankings criteria. For example, in Omaha Hi/Lo split half of the pot is awarded to the best high hand while half of the pot is awarded to the best low hand.
*You combine B and C’s $50s to make the main pot $150. You then take Player B’s leftover $100 and split it into $80 and $20. You then make a sub pot for Player B and C worth $40 (Player C’s leftover from the $70), and then you give back Player B’s $80 sine no one can cover it. Split Hold’em will be immediately familiar to No Limit Hold’em players, with one single powerful twist-- two Flops, two Turns, two Rivers, and two halves of the pot to win. Also noteworthy is that, for the first time, we will be using the Seat Me system on our global liquidity player pool.
This means that when taking your seat at a Split Hold’em table, instead of manually choosing a table and a seat, you will simply choose the stake that you want to play.
